Written following the 2011 Tsunami/Earthquake in Japan, when the immediate wreckage of lives, homes, and livelihoods seemed overshadowed by the universal panic about the waves of financial uncertainty and radiation that threatened to follow; seemed to mirror so many issues in our lives, not least the inevitable rise in sea levels and the fragility of the pampered lives we cling to.
lyrics
Its the beginning of the end.
No clearer message you could send.
From the trickle comes a wave,
That becomes a huge cascade,
From the trickle comes a wave.
The government is not your friend,
The banks won't lend.
Who or what will save the poor?
Somehow the banks always get more.
From the trickle comes a wave.
From the cradle to the grave,
To the machines we are enslaved.
Our comforts come at great expense,
So who would come to our defense?
From the trickle comes a wave.
Intensive farming has it's sins,
And we'll still starve while profits win.
Spreading super bugs, or weeds, or fear,
We might have known it started here,
From the trickle comes a wave.
We see the brown stuff hit the fan,
And still we lack a master plan.
Out of the fat into the fire,
Reap the rewards of your desires,
From the trickle comes a wave....
We watch the pressure cookers vent,
Unleash a series of events,
Unfolds a human tragedy,
That will outlive you and me,
From the trickle comes a wave.
So who'll be lost within the rush?
When the crash comes,
Who will be crushed?
No escaping from the tides,
That approach us nations wide,
From the trickle comes a wave....
There's no escape from there my dear,
and no escape from here.
There's no escaping,
There's no escaping from the tides.
From the trickle comes a wave,
We'll be washed away...
